Ritz Carlton Berlin Hotel description

This new hotel located in city center on prestigious Potsdamer Platz opened in January 2004, and is close to restaurants, attractions, nightlife, and public transportation. The hotel's day spa offers massage therapy and facials, a fitness center, pool, and saunas; a 24-hour technology butler, translation services, and four restaurants and bars are available. The 302 guestrooms have high-speed Internet access, marble bathrooms, twice-daily housekeeping, and views of the Sony Centre, Potsdamer Square, or quiet side streets.

What to expect: This hotel, reflecting Berlin's rich history and grandeur, is architecturally reminiscent of the Art Deco buildings 1920s New York and Chicago. Guests enter a spacious lobby with a grand marble staircase, wrought-iron railing, marble columns, and a sparkling chandelier. The famous Ritz service attracts international leisure and business travelers.

Amenity highlights: The hotel’s spa pampers guests with facials and with European, Asian, and therapeutic massage, and beauty services are also available. The nearby Tiergarten offers excellent jogging trails, and the hotel provides a “joggers’ station” at the garden entrance, offering fresh towels, mineral water, fruit, and route maps. Vitrum - This 63-seat gourmet restaurant offers European cuisine with Italian influences, with a menu focused on fish and fresh herbs. Fine Italian wine list. Venetian ambience created by inlaid Italian-marble floors, mirror-covered columns, antique Venetian cabinets and artwork, Murano-glass chandeliers and oriental carpets. Handmade china inspired by Murano and Burano, created for the hotel.

Debrosses - Traditional 1875 French brasserie, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Seating for 220, including 60 terrace seats available seasonally. Open show kitchen with old enamel oven, and an on-site bakery; pastries can be purchased for take-away. French cuisine with influences from Prague, Vienna, and New York. Daily changing menus and a selection of oysters, shellfish, crab, lobster, and shrimp. Guests can make a choice of tobaccos to be smoked in a water-pipe.

Curtain club - A 60-seat bar offering 400 fruit spirits and extensive selection of Cuban cigars. Selections from the martini cocktail menu, based on the fruit spirits, are presented in their own specially designed glassware. Heavy brocade curtains separate the bar from the lobby. Guests can enjoy an aperitif in front of the fireplace while listening to live jazz and blues performances.

Tea Lounge - Open throughout the day, the lounge with Chinese-inspired ambience serves cocktails as well as classic tea with fresh scones, sandwiches, petit fours, and a variety of teas. Live piano music.

Two private dining rooms are available: Ponte Fabricio, seating 16, and Ponte Cestio, accommodating 12 persons at one long table.

The hotel’s spa offers an indoor pool, spa tub, dry and steam saunas, fitness center, sun bed, and therapeutic massage and facials.
