Welcome to the Berlin Hotel in Berlin - This 701-room hotel offers equal access to West Berlin attractions such as Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard and East Berlin sites including Potzdamer Platz. In summer, guests find haven in a garden-courtyard restaurant beside a little stream, and year-round they enjoy the conviviality of a lively sports bar. Guestrooms include hypoallergenic comforters and pillows and include desks, reading chairs, cocktail tables, minibars, and shower/tub combinations.
What to expect: One of the first two hotels built in Berlin after the city's devastation during World War II, and expanded twice since, the hotel serves as a major conference center and also attracts leisure travelers who enjoy the hotel's convenient location between East and West Berlin.
Amenity highlights: In summer, an outdoor restaurant in an interior courtyard that contains a rock garden, stream, and little waterfall becomes a tranquil haven serving Bavarian and Mediterranean dishes. The hotel's sports bar attracts a lively crowd, especially during major soccer matches, and serves as a social center for guests and locals.
Insider tip: Officially named Kaufhaus des Westens but universally called KaDeWe, Europe's largest department store lies four blocks from the hotel. The block-square store includes an entire floor selling packaged food and drink, produce, meat, seafood, and baked goods, and contains numerous cafés devoted to various German and international cuisines, as well as a number of wine, beer, and champagne bars.
A wellness center contains a Finnish sauna, another sauna less hot and dry than a Finnish sauna, a relaxation lounge, a tanning bed (solarium), and a fitness room with a Universal gym, cardio machines, and free weights. A business center includes two computers with high-speed Internet connections (surcharge). The lobby features plants and an oval conversation area beneath a mirror-front mezzanine.
The hotel offers 701 guestrooms in an eight-story building. Decor varies, but each room includes hypoallergenic comforters and pillows, a desk, a reading chair with cocktail table, a minibar, a pale-tile bathroom with shower/tub combination, and dial-up Internet access. Bathrobes and VCRs are available on request.

Patio Inn Steingarten - Outdoor seating in interior courtyard arrayed around rock garden with stream, small waterfall. Open in summer for Bavarian and Mediterranean dishes.
Lützow Lounge - Pub-like sports bar with flat-screen televisions, projection television, sports memorabilia, dark-wood trim. Menu of Berlin specialties and international snack foods. Open Tuesday-Sunday from late morning to late night.
