nancy is a delightful large market town - it has a wealth of interest for the traveller and tourist alike, historically it's art, architecture and importance to the art nouveau movement is highly significant. it has a good range of (modern) shops juxtaposed alongside the traditional. the town has good links via the excellent rail network with paris (3 hrs) and strasbourg (1 hr) as well as other significant towns and cities in the area (metz, for example)there is a tram network for travel within the town, although this is reportedly a little temperamental! there are a number of bistros, bars and cafe's that enable the visitor to get a feel for life in nancy, a couple of small independant cinemas give a sense of the cultural respect nanacy has for the genre of film and there is at least one significant museum the people are friendly and the place has a laid back, gentle & safe atmosphere and is a good place to get a feel for the region as a whole on balance, a lovely place well worth an extended stay
