Pedestrianised old town (known as the ‘Ecusson’) with its beautiful 17th and 18th century town houses; chapel of the White Penitents; the Place de la Comédie, overlooked by the 19th century Opera House; Saint Pierre cathedral; Botanical Gardens created by Henri IV; the ‘Corum’ conference centre and theatre; Museum of Langudoc; Atger Museum; the Fabre museum, with its 17th and 18th century Montpellier ceramics and collection of French, Spanish and Italian paintings from the 16th century to the present day.
