Agen tourist information
Let it be said here and now, if Agen makes you think of prunes it is not because the town produces them. Thanks to its advantageous position on the Garonne, it was the point of departure for the crates of prunes that came rather from Villeneuve-sur-Lot. A ferry town up to the C19th it suffered for a long time from unpredictable flooding.
Today, lying as it does between Toulouse and Bordeaux Agen plays its peaceful role between brick and stone. You will enjoy wandering in the Cornières quarter where merchants have been gathering since the C13th. The memory of Julius Caesar Saliger will be honoured( nothing to do with the Emperor !)
It is an old town since Julius Caesar mentions it in his "Gallic Wars". But also a modern town. With Florida it has at its disposal an innovative cultural complex devoted to amplified music meaning, a place where people can give themselves up to Rock music and its derivatives in all its forms. As for the children they will love going to Walibi, an amusement water park ideal for summer dips. You can find time for that.
