Right next to the commercial centre is Neristan (Downtown), one of the most extensive areas of historic wooden buildings in the country. Museums worth visiting in oppistan (Uptown) are the K.H. Renlund Art Gallery, the Historical Museum and the Nature Museum & Mineral Collection.
The big 24-hour Midnight Sun Tournament in June draws golfers from all over the world to play on excellent courses in the region. This tournament and the Venetian Night Tournament in August are a must for all serious golfers.
