Around 5,800 spaces in the town centre car parks mean parking for shopping and sightseeing could not be more convenient. Much of the town is pedestrianised, so getting around on foot is a pleasure. Ipswich Borough Council has a policy of encouraging public and alternative transport. There are increasing numbers of cycle lanes and ample cycle parks, whilst Ipswich Buses run excellent, comprehensive services all over the town and to many outlying villages.
