Nyborg tourist information

Nyborg (18.500 inhabitants) is beautifully situated on the island of Funen, on the coast of the 18-kilometre-broad Great Belt, where Europe's longest suspension bridge was opened in 1998.

The town is fringed with woodland and has one of the island's finest bathing beaches.

Nyborg was once Denmark's administrative centre, and its historic royal castle, Denmark's oldest (from 1172), is visited annually by many thousands of tourists. Nyborg is known for its thriving cultural activity, amongst other events for the Nordic Piano Contest, held every third year in the Castle Banqueting Hall. With its thousand beds in six hotels within a two kilometre radius of the centre, and situated as it is in the heart of the country and easily accessible by rail and motorway, Nyborg has become a favourite venue for meetings and conferences, embracing annually more than 200.000 participants.
