Pribor tourist information
This town was founded in the 13th century along the Lubina River near the old trade way from Moravia to Silesia. This period is recorded in a regular plan of the town, its square, in ruins of medieval fortification and in the Gothic Church of Our Lady Birth. The citizen houses in the square, which is flanked in three sides by original arcades, were built in the Renaissance style. Facades of some houses along with Our Lady's Column and especially the work of the Viennese architect G. P. Tencally demonstrate the baroque period. The early baroque building of the Piarist College (a traditional educational centre) ranks also to his constructions. The Regional Museum includes an exhibition focused on the personality and work of Sigmund Freud, who was born in Pribor. His native house with a memorial plaque is located in the Zamecnicka Street.
