Comment: We had a wonderful time. We knew ahead that there was no elevator and we would walk upstairs so we were prepared. The Hotel is very quaint. If you like Paris you will like this hotel. The service was excellent and the location perfect. The food was superb with many choices. Tipping is a good idea. The rooms were clean and cleaned each day. The washroom was very large and very clean.

Comment: Wife and I went for anniversary getaway, this was a great spot! Hotel was quaint in the Old Port section, with plenty to see/do within walking distance. Room was comfortable, cozy, with large bath. Always looked forward to the full breakfast. Staff was helpful and friendly. Will definitely return.

Comment: Hi, Me and my Boyfriend booked 2 nights in this quaint Hotel and got a great rate 2 nights. The room size was dissapointing, but when you go on vacation, you dont sit around in the hotel all day. Breakfast was amazing and free, Hotel staff were very knowledgeable of the area, and accomodating, Hotel near everything Including Metro, and St, Catherines st. Very nice I will stay here again and again.

Comment: I maximize my time sightseeing when I travel, so all I want is a clean well lit place to sleep, shower, dress, and defecate. Hotel Champ-de-mars meets these minimum requirements. Hotel is near the waterfront, Chinatown, old town, downtown, McGill University and a hill overlooking city; a great location. Staff is reserved. When a friend came later, we got a larger (but tiny) room easily. A complementary real breakfast (pancakes, eggs, French toast, coffee, juices, etc) was served with class. Hotel has no frills, a simple bar and restaurant, but is the place to stay if you stay away.

Comment: The Champ-de-Mars is a charming hotel at the edge of Old Montreal. It is just three blocks from the Metro (subway) and a short walk from the Palais-de-Congres (convention center). Location and price were my main criteria, as I am a grad student (read: poor!) and was in Montreal for a conference. The Champ-de-Mars did not disappoint and, in fact, it was better than I had expected! A hearty breakfast was included--guests can choose any of six options. I will definitely consider this hotel for my next trip.

Comment: The staff at the hotel were particularly kind and accomodating, including setting up tours and activities in the city. The complimentary breakfast is the best I've ever experienced. Granted, rooms are small and windows don't open, but they are clean and well-kept. Being two blocks from the very happening waterfront, metro, and the Old French Quarter, where there are shops and restaurants, made for the perfect stay on a budget.

Comment: It is truly old and small. But you cannot beat the inexpensiveness. if you are looking to save money, and just sleep It is perfect. If you cannot handle old and small it will be disappointing. But the staff were very helpful and friendly

Comment: Really old and rundown with paint peeling in the hallway. This your basic budget place and if your goal is to get out and around this place will encourage you to do it. We were charged an extra $25 per night b/c my wife was not on the original package booking. That got us her breakfast which was pretty standard fare. Supposedly put in an upgrade room and there was at least one smaller room but this is no frills all the way.

Comment: Rooms are unimaginably tiny. The "suite" they gave us was very tiny, and we literally fell through one of the beds. When we complained about our first room we had(the suite), the manager literally said, "you think that room is bad, wait until you see our other rooms". The manager always played it off as being "european style", as if saying, it's not something us americans would understand. Taking all your bags up the flight of stairs on the 3rd floor gets annoying, needs an elevator. In addition, you need 3 keys: one to enter the hotel, one to enter the stairway, and one to enter your room.

Comment: The room was way overpriced, and upon arrival I was extremely disappointed to see that the room was very small. There was no air conditioning at all, and the bed and two small dressors fit in the room. The door had no extra locks on it, so it felt unsafe. I could hear other people talking and walking around as well. In addition, the bed was uncomfortable, creaky, and small. Overall, I wasted my money.

Comment: The rooms are very, very small and filthy, You hear the shower in the pipes when anyone in the building showers this is very, very loud. Stairs are narrow and filthy. Three keys to keep up with, they called my home and accused me of stealing books from the room, I was devistated. They threw my earing in the trash they said they had found. I would not recommed this hotel to an enemy. Staff very, very unfriendly. They ruiened my time in canada to spend with my seriously ill stepdaughter. This HOTEL IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY YEARS OF TRAVELING.
