Diksmuide tourist information
The neighbouring town of Diksmuide was not spared from the ravages of World War I, the deep imprints of which still bear witness to the town's recent history. The Dodengang ("Corridor of death"), the poignant trench field, the Ijzer Tower offering a bird's-eye view of the surrounding plains, and the Paxpoort (Archway of Peace) together make an impelling plea for « no more war ».
The restoration of Diksmuide's magnificent Grote Markt has once and for all erased all traces of the damage inflicted on it by the "Great War".
