Corrientes tourist information
Corrientes City is the Capital City of the homonimous Province and is situated in the littoral of the argentinian northeast region on the banks of Paraná River. One can get to this region by plane arriving at " Gobernador Piragine Niveyro Airport" or by car or bus through Nº 11 and 12 National Routes. In this area of the province , the climate is mild and the temperature is high with a limited annual variation and a low daily oscillation due to the high humidity, being the average registered temperature 20º C . There are heavy rains in Fall and Spring. The architecture of the city shows different styles with buildings that integrate the smooth shapes of colonial Baroque style with current dinamic buildings that provide the area with an atmosphere of constant renewal in its streets and parks full of chivatoes, ceiboes,jacarandaes and orange trees. Corrientes offers a touristic landscape where one can enjoy sport fishing of dorado and water sports in the excellent Municipal River Resort or Sailing Club. One cannot miss a walk down the river drive which has natural balconies looking over the river, a visit to the zoo , to the museums or shopping along Junín pedestrian street. In the outskirts, one can get to know indian settlements, the house where General Mitre lived in at the time of the " Triple Alianza" or Totora Lagoon with its clear water. In February, Corrientes City dresses up to celebrate its unique carnivals with its secret meetings, designs, embroideries, essays and floats giving the tourist the present of an unforgettable ritual that lasts the whole month.
